This male hybrid Red-shafted x Yellow-shafted Northern Flicker was banded in December of 2023 at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory. It is the second such hybrid captured at SSFL, and these represent the only two hybrids captured south of the (extended) Kern County line since 1961!
